As Congress continues to debate health care reform, I want to let you know where I stand. The following are 10 principles that I would like to see included in any proposed health care reform.
1. As a businessman, I know we cannot afford to have the cost of health care double like it has in the last 10 years. Job one is to reduce health care costs for families and businesses.
2. No CUTS IN MEDICARE FOR SENIORS. Cut the giveaways to insurance and drug companies instead.
3. We must stop insurance companies from denying coverage to those with pre-existing medical conditions or capping lifetime benefits.
4. You should not lose your insurance coverage if you change or lose your job.
5. We should put the nation on a path to assuring affordable, quality health coverage for every American citizen and their children.
6. Insurance reforms must preserve existing choices of doctors and health plans.
7. Health insurance reform should not increase the debt burden for our children.
8. I oppose any attempts to tax workers’ health care benefits.
9. Insurance policies must encourage individual responsibility with wellness programs to improve care, cut costs, and reward Americans for their healthy choices.
10. As a scientist, I know we can prevent medical errors and improve quality of care through computerization of patient records and advanced technology.
I greatly value the input of my constituents, so please contact any of my offices with your ideas and concerns as we continue to debate health care reform.
Sincerely,

Bill Foster
