Below you will find a comment from one of our members regarding the response they received from our Illinois House of Representative’s staff. We need to let Washington hear our voices as this member has done.
Mr. Callaghan,
As I stated in my original letter I should be receiving a credit in October, 2009. I will have to wait until October to see if I receive the credit. I will just state that I did not think that it was, or is, fair that the company has to wait until October to get reimbursed for the money. Someone, whether it is the State or Insurance Company, has been able to sit on this money since March. I am also sure that interest has been earned on all of this money. We are not just talking my company. I am sure there are a lot more companies in the same position. This hurts the small business, while once again some “entity” (Insurance Company or State) is profiting off the small guy. I don’t think it is right.

Subject: COBRA
Congressman Foster has received your emai l and asked me to contact you and apologize for the delay in response. I have contacted the Department of Labor to get more information about your complaint. If you company has less than 20 employees, the program you are participating in is administered by the State. The state’s “mini-COBRA” received funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. However, because it is a State program, it is administered at the State level. Has the issue been resolved since your initial email?
